Safaricom Ethiopia has started providing its network service in Addis Ababa

Safaricom Ethiopia which conducted customer network trial in 10 cities in the country previously now has announced that it has started providing services in Addis Ababa.

In addition, Safaricom Ethiopia has announced that it will hold its first national service program tonight from 12:00 to 1:00 in friendship park. It has been said that higher government officials, Safaricom Ethiopia shareholders, partners and Kenya’s president William Root also attend this event.

Addis Ababa customers can exchange 4G data, voice call and text services with Safaricom Ethiopia and Ethio Telecom customers and make international calls. Customers can also by phone cases with affordable prices.

Safaricom has announce that customers can select their phone numbers, buy Sim cards, buy airtime and get customer support at stores located in Garad Mall Meskel Flower,Jemo, Bole and CMC and other shops in the city that have Safaricom logo posted.

Customers can get Safaricom call center by calling 700 and the services will be delivered in 5 language Amharic Oromifa, Somali, Tigrigna and English.

Safaricom network is currently operated in Addis Ababa, Adama, Bahir Dar, Awady, Harar, Haramaya, Dire Dawa, Mojdo, Bishoftu, Gondor and Debre Birhan. It has announced that it will reach 14 more cities by April 2015.

Safaricom Ethiopia CEO Anwar Susa said ” We are very happy to start our service in Addis Ababa and to be able to start our national service program” according to the requirements of telecom service license, we will continue to other cities by testing the network.

Safaricom Ethiopia like Ethio Telecom also provides digital money transfer service to its clients which is not previously allowed by Ethiopian government. Financial institution is not open to international company in the country after this forward Safaricom can participate in financial services.
